WAXING

Threading is an ancient way to remove unwanted facial hair.

A cotton thread is pulled along unwanted hair in a twisting motion, trapping hair in what can be described as a mini lasso that uplifts it right out of the follicle.  Because it removes hair from the follicle, it can last up to six weeks.

No chemicals are used on the skin, so it’s great for anyone that has sensitive skin or allergies.

Temporary results can turn into permanent results over time, as frequent threading can cause the hair follicle to become damaged and this can eventually stop growing hair.

It's extremely sanitary. Only the thread touches the skin and it’s thrown away after each use, so there are no worries about double-dipping like with waxing, or other tools not being sanitised.

The discomfort has been compared to tweezing, but threading removes hair quickly, so it's over sooner than tweezing.

AFTER CARE ADVICE

  • Threading is considered the best alternative to waxing and tweezing, and it is very gentle on your skin. Yet, those with sensitive skin may experience a little redness after a treatment that should not last long.

  • If you experience a discomfort, it is advisable to apply a cold compress over the treated area followed by toner or cooling gel that contains aloe Vera or witch hazel.

ACTIVITIES TO AVOID

The hairs from the face are removed from the follicle, leaving the pores on the skin open for at least 2 to 3 hours.

  • Avoid touching the treated area for 2-4 hours.

  • No make-up or perfumed products should be applied for 2-4 hours.

  • Avoid steam treatment or heat source like sun bathing / tanning beds, hot baths or sauna for at least 24 hours.

  • Avoid swimming or spray tanning 24-48 hours post threading.
